Thames Federation

Safeguarding

At Thames Federation, all staff have a responsibility to provide a safe environment in which children can learn.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined  as:

  • protecting children from maltreatment;
  • preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development;
  • ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care;
  • taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

All Thames Federation staff receive appropriate safeguarding and child protection training, which is regularly updated via email, e-bulletins and staff meetings, as required, to provide them with relevant skills and knowledge to safeguard children effectively.

All Thames Federation staff know what to do if a child tells them he/she is being abused or neglected, and  are aware of the process for making referrals to the DSL. Staff also know how to maintain an appropriate level of only involving those who need to be involved.

Thames Federation parents entrust the care of their children to us, and together whatever our roles,  we are all acutely aware that the protection of children is of the highest possible importance, and TRUST underpins everything that we do to SAFEGUARD children.
